Three Initiatives You Need to Know

The clock is officially ticking for the grassroots movements in Washington. We have just a few weeks left to hit the pavement, gather signatures, and ensure voters have the final say on three critical initiatives this November.

This is our chance to take a definitive stand for our community: securing our election systems, protecting our hard-earned pocketbooks from state overreach, and restoring fiscal sanity right here in Pierce County. But to get these measures across the finish line before the July deadline, we need every single citizen in the 27th Legislative District stepping up to sign initiatives, fill clipboards, and mobilize their neighborhoods.

Here is exactly what's at stake and how you can take action today.

1. Washington Voter ID (IP26-500)

Our universal mail-in system only works if voters have absolute confidence in the integrity of the ballot box. Backed by the WAGOP, this statewide initiative establishes common-sense citizenship verification for our elections.

What It Does: For new registrations, county auditors will automatically verify citizenship through enhanced IDs via the Department of Licensing. If it cannot be done automatically, applicants simply provide standard proof (like a passport or birth certificate). For current voters, the state will run a cleanup check by July 2027, giving anyone unverified ample notice and opportunity to secure their status.

Why We Support It: Ensuring that only American citizens vote in American elections isn't radical—it is a fundamental pillar of a secure republic.

More Information & Where to Sign: Head over to WAGOP to find a local signing hub or an upcoming signing event right here in Tacoma, Ruston, or Fife.

2. Stop the Unconstitutional Income Tax (IP26-645)

Bypassing decades of voter consensus and our state constitution, the legislative majority in Olympia rammed through a sweeping 9.9% personal income tax on families and small businesses making over $1 million—and they deliberately insulated it to try and block you from overturning it via a standard referendum.

What It Does: Backed by Let’s Go Washington, this initiative gives the power back to the people. It will fully repeal this historic tax overreach and permanently block state and local governments from expanding capital gains or personal income tax brackets down to the middle class in the future.

Why We Support It: Olympia doesn't have a revenue problem; they have a spending problem. If we don't draw a hard line against this income tax now, history proves it will eventually expand downward to hit every middle-class family and small business in the state.

More Information & Where to Sign: Find your nearest physical signature location or order a packet of petitions directly to your home at Let's Go Washington.

3. Defending Pierce County: The Local Sales Tax Repeal

The tax grab isn't just happening in Olympia—it's hitting us right in our own backyard. The Pierce County Council passed a new 0.1% local sales tax increase set to hit consumers on July 1st. We are fighting to kill this tax before the county can even start collecting it.

What It Does: This local county initiative, supported by various community groups, fully repeals the newly enacted 0.1% sales tax hike before it gets permanently entrenched into the local budget.

Why We Support It: Public safety is the core function of government and already eats up more than three-quarters of the county's general fund. With local families already stretched thin by inflation, the county needs to prioritize its existing $2.6 budget instead of treating local consumers like an endless ATM.

More Information & Where to Sign: Connect directly with our 27th LD grassroots teams to sign the local county petition and grab an extra clipboard for your neighborhood block! You can also stop by the Pierce County Republican Party office. For more informaton, visit the PCRP website.

Our Action Plan: Sign, Gather, and Mobilize

We have less than a month left to force the establishment to listen to the voters. Don't just sign your name—be a force multiplier for the movement: Step 1: Contact us directly to sync up with our local signature-gathering routes and literature drops across Tacoma, Ruston, and Fife. Step 2: Pick up packets, or have us bring them to you. Step 3: Take them to your friends and neighbors. Step 4: Turn in your packets, or have us come pick them up by June 30th.

When we organize, we win. Let’s get these remaining petitions signed, get our community informed, and take our state back this November!
